有人收集畫作粉飾家居，有人收集水晶，如果你喜歡中國文物，不妨收集中國古董，物件保存了一段日子，就會變成古董。這次觀賞的古董，不僅是明、清兩代的真品，大部份更出自中國名家之手，包括一幅宋代名畫──皇帝訓子圖，我們可能不懂得如何欣賞，專家指應該從它歷史的傳承、歷史的沉澱，還有它的文化內涵來感悟，品鑒它內在的文化。而作品的價值分作兩類，一個是歷史的價值，一個是商品的價值，這兩個價值不能等同，但它有相互的影響。
鑒賞書畫時，除了欣賞書法，另一個估價的方法，是看其印章，通常印章愈多，價值愈高，因為那是地位的象徵，有皇帝的璽印，表示作品來自宮廷，更得皇帝認可；而鎏金銅交龍鈕原來是一件樂器──編鐘，鐘身一側鑄有康熙五十四年製字樣，主要用於隆重場合，拍賣時最終以630萬港元成交，這鐘的音調鑄在鐘身，並鑄有出自易經的八卦紋；另外看看卓練的白玉大水洗，它是清代文物，是皇室貴胄書寫後盛水洗筆之用，玉龍頭大且圓。
