01年9月11日，美國受到劫持民航飛機的自殺式恐怖襲擊，這是繼「珍珠港」事件後，美國本土所遭受到最嚴重的打擊。事件中，共有2,986人死亡，美國紐約兩座地標－世界貿易中心雙塔，以及六座建築被徹底摧毀，美國國防部總部所在地五角大樓受到襲擊，還有其他23座高層建築遭到嚴重破壞，致使全球經濟受到這突如其來的挫敗。
適逢今年是911襲擊五週年紀念，明珠台為悼念這次襲擊的死傷者，推出這套半紀錄片《911》，內容帶你深入探討眾多倖存者的劫後生活，也走訪了遇害者的家人，還有當日在世貿中心現場參與拯救行動的英勇戰士—事發前從未碰面的Stanley Praimnath和Brian Park，憑藉共同的信念，對生存的慾望，最終雙雙逃離事發現場；地盤經理Frank de Martini，在現場拯救被碎石壓倒的眾多受害者，在生與死之間掙扎；還有很多英勇萬分的消防人員，爭分奪秒進入世貿中心務求拯救更多生還者，但當中有些卻沒機會再走出來……
